That is indeed pretty knotted. It can be a bit of a trial, but have you considered using DOF (or faux DOF) with such complex abstracts to differentiate the foreground from the background somewhat? Incidentally reading matter at the moment is this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%B6d… a weighty tomb. It's taken me a couple of months so far. I'm not a fast reader.
